In 1993, she took a Midwifery Home-study course and two, two-week intensive midwifery workshops. In October of that year, she began an apprenticeship with Judy Mentzer, a direct-entry midwife with a busy homebirth practice in Orrstown, PA. In the Fall of 1994 she passed the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) exam and became a Registered Midwife as well as Judy’s paid assistant. In the summer of 1997 she moved to Vermont to start a family. Both of her daughters were born at home. In December of 2006 she returned to Midwifery.
