Alison Fischman, CPM, LM, MA

I want you to have the birth experience you desire. To facilitate that mission, I ensure that you are an active participant in your care, and that you feel heard every step along the way. My role is empowering you during this transformative, sacred, and challenging time in your life. I provide personalized and professional care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Through my commitment to social justice work, I strive to create space for people to feel empowered in their lives, in their care, and in the future of themselves and their families. Professional midwifery care is an important part of improving the safety of pregnancy and birth in the United States. Midwifery care is associated with better birth outcomes for pregnant people and their babies.

I attended Birthwise Midwifery School, a MEAC-accredited midwifery school in Bridgton, Maine. I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) through the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) and a Licensed Midwife (LM) in the state of Vermont. I am also a DONA-certified doula and Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist through Placenta Benefits Training and Certification. I hold a BA from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Environmental Studies and Political Science and an MA from the University for Peace in Costa Rica in Environmental Security and Peace.

I moved to Vermont in 2016 with my native-Vermonter, rockstar husband and partner-in-crime, Elliot. We live in Wolcott on 23 beautiful acres with our daughter, Kezia, and son, Jude. When I’m not catching babies or encapsulating placentas, you can find me in the garden, along the river, painting, or dancing it out in the kitchen. I look forward to meeting you on your pregnancy journey!
